Russian proxies conducted a total of 12 ceasefire violations in all sectors of ATO zone yesterday. Ukrainian troops returned fire in eight incidents.
The most intense hostilities took place in Mariupol sector where militants continued armed provocations 18 hours in a row. “Russia-backed militants shelled Hnutove, Shyrokyne, Talakivka, and Krasnohorivka from 02:00 to 20:00. Two Ukrainian troops were wounded and two more sustained injuries in action,” reported Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesman on ATO Colonel Oleksandr Motuzyanyk at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. In Shyrokyne, Russian proxies used mortars managing to fire two rounds before Ukrainian troops engaged them with a mounted anti-tank grenade launcher. Moreover, the enemy attacked our positions in Hnutove with IFV weapons, automatic grenade launchers, and machine guns. Russia-backed militants also conducted a 20-minute attack at Talakivka and Krasnohorivka using small arms and hand grenade launchers. Ukrainian troops returned fire using machine guns and grenade launchers,” said the spokesman.
In Luhansk sector, militants violated the ceasefire five times. Russian proxies used small arms and grenade launchers twice in Novooleksandrivka. Each attack was 20-30 minutes long. Ukrainian troops returned fire. “Moreover, the enemy attacked Stanytsia Luhanska, Valuiske, and Triokhizbenka with light weapons,” added Col. Motuzyanyk.
In Donetsk sector, Ukrainian troops recorded three armed provocations: militants attacked Ukrainian positions near Avdiivka, Nevelske, and Zaitseve using small arms.
