At a briefing in the Ukraine Crisis Media Center Yuriy Stets, Head of the Information security directorate of Ukraine’s National Guard, demonstrated video address of Illia Bogdanov, Senior Lieutenant at the Russian Federation FSB (Federal Security Service) in which Mr. Bogdanov expressed his intention to sign up as volunteer into Ukrainian army in order to help stop the war in Eastern Ukraine. “I could not keep witnessing the lies on the Ukraine situation massively spread through Russian media, that’s why I left everything and came here in order to help stop the civil war that the anti-people’s Putin regime is attempting to start”.

Mr. Bogdanov is an acting FSB officer currently in Kyiv. According to him there are other officers discontent with the actions of the Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin and are ready to help the Ukrainian Army. Nevertheless Yuriy Stets, Head of the Information security directorate of Ukraine’s National Guard, explained that there is no official decision on Mr. Bogdanov now. Mr. Bogdanov will be able to confirm the sincerity of his intentions only by his further actions.

When commenting on the situation Mr. Stets noted: “We’ve been recently witnessing some citizens of the Russian Federation changing their mind including FSB officers who have access to truthful information on the situation in Ukraine.”
