Ministry of Defense: Militants deliver eight attacks, one Ukrainian troop killed in action

Yesterday, Russia-backed militants significantly stepped up their activity in the ATO zone. Russian proxies carried out eight targeted attacks. One Ukrainian troop was killed as a result of a hostile shelling near Avdiivka. “Two more soldiers were wounded in action,” reported Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesman on ATO Colonel Dmytro Hutsulyak at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

In Donetsk sector, militants attacked Ukrainian troops’ position five times having fired over seventy 120-mm and 82-mm mortar rounds. Avdiivka was the main hotspot yesterday. “The enemy delivered four attacks using 120-mm and 82-mm mortars, heavy machine guns, and small arms. Ukrainian positions near Bohdanivka settlement came under hostile fire of 82-mm mortars and infantry fighting vehicle’s mounted weapons,” said Col. Hutsulyak.

In Luhansk sector, militants committed three ceasefire violations. “The enemy shelled our stronghold in Troitske area with 120-mm mortars and violated the ceasefire near Stanytsia Luhanska using small arms only,” said the spokesman.
