Russia-backed militants violated the ceasefire 30 times in eastern Ukraine yesterday. Fortunately, Ukrainian troops incurred no casualties, reported Ministry of Defense spokesman Colonel Dmytro Hutsulyak at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.
In Luhansk sector, the militants delivered five attacks – near Troitske, Luhanske, Novoselivka, and Novhorodske. Russian proxies fired at Ukrainian positions 30 rounds from 120-mm and 82-mm mortars, used grenade launchers, small arms, and IFV mounted weapons.
In Donetsk sector, the militants committed 25 ceasefire violations. Russia-backed militants employed 82-mm mortars near Takalivka. Ukrainian positions near Novotroitske, Pavlopil, Vodiane, Hnutove, Avdiivka, Kamianka, Talakivka, Maryinka, Krasnohorivka, Shyrokyne, and Shakhta Butivka came under the fire of hostile grenade launchers, heavy machine guns, and small arms. Enemy snipers were spotted near Pavlopil and Nobotroitske.
Between 00:00 and 09:00 of April 23, Russian proxies violated the ceasefire ten times. In Luhansk sector, starting at 06:00 the militants delivered a two-hour shelling of Ukrainian positions near Troitske using 120-mm mortars. “The enemy used 82-mm mortars once near Popasna, and twice near Novoaleksandrivka. This morning, the militants have already fired 35 mortar rounds of 120-mm and 82-mm calibers. Near Novozvanivka, Russian proxies conducted harassing fire using grenade launchers and heavy machine guns,” added Colonel Hutsulyak. In Donetsk sector, Russia-backed militants attacked Ukrainian positions near Labebynske, Hnutove, and Vodiane (three times) using grenade launchers, heavy machine guns, and small arms.
