Russians damaged 1,702 objects of cultural infrastructure in Ukraine

Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, 1 702 objects of cultural infrastructure have been damaged and destroyed (as of Mау 25, 2023).
Cultural infrastructure suffered the greatest losses and damage in Donetsk, Kherson, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia regions.
In total, the following were affected:

  • clubs – 841;
  • libraries – 601;
  • art education institutions – 131;
  • museums and galleries – 99;
  • theatres and philharmonic societies – 30.
    “It is worth noting that as of the end of September 2023, almost the entire territory of Luhansk and significant parts of Kherson, Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions are still under temporary occupation. This makes it impossible to calculate the exact number of cultural infrastructure facilities damaged during the hostilities and occupation,” the Ministry of Culture concluded.
