Joe Rogan has spoken on the topic of the Russian-Ukrainian war choosing to create a narrative in which the full-scale invasion that Russia has launched onto Ukrainian territories is, in fact, a “proxy war” between the US and Russia. He also claimed that both sides are capable of “working it out” and that Ukraine might start World War III by continuing to defend itself as it did until this moment.
Joe Rogan’s logic is flawed, and spreading such narratives creates a dangerous precedent. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in 2022, Russia has launched over 11,000 missiles at Ukraine, targeting civilian homes and infrastructure, causing destruction and countless deaths. By implying that Ukraine should not defend itself, Joe Rogan normalizes Russia’s armed aggression and absolves Russia of its blame. Moreover, Joe Rogan’s suggestion to “work it out” negates the threat Russia poses to European and global security, and oversimplifies the scope of Russian ambition in its pursuit of occupying the entire territory of Ukraine.
