How Ukrainian art rethinks Russian war

Since the start of Russia’s brutal large-scale invasion, art has become another frontline to defeat violence and aggression. When Russian missiles speak, artists can’t remain silent so they turn their rage and traumas into creativity, telling the whole world the story of Europe’s most tragic war since WWII.

Ukrainian writers, actors, singers, and painters launch flash mobs, organize charity auctions, raise funds and donate their profits to support Ukrainian Armed forces and civilians suffering from the horrors of war. They use their visibility to speak out the truth about Russian aggression in Ukraine.

In the Russian-Ukrainian war, Art has become a full weapon. While Russians use it to justify their neo-colonialism, Ukrainian express with it their pain, traumas, and stolen future.

Speakers:

  • Olesya Drashkaba, artist, editor in chief of UCHOOSE
  • Taras Tomenko, film director.
