State of Russia after Prigozhin’s mutiny

The Prigozhin mutiny events were the peak of the confrontation between different factions within the Russian regime. Tensions between factions of loyalists, “patriots,” and local elites have always existed, but the waging of a large-scale war against Ukraine only accelerated their mutual animosity.

This “uprising” showed, first of all, that the consolidation of Putin’s Russia is more propaganda fiction than reality.

In the end, Prigozhyn very demonstrably violated the complete legitimacy of the regime. This precedent will remain in the memory not only of the elites but also of the local population. It became clear to the whole world that Putin is a leader who cannot guarantee stability even in his own state, so agreements with him are always in doubt.
