Russian influence on Ukraine was characterized by its complexity and multidimensionality. Russian publishing houses, authors and translations of foreign authors dominated the Ukrainian book market until the systemic changes caused by the annexation of Crimea and aggression in Donbas.
Ukrainian authors began to gain popularity due to the political context, and eventually, the demand for Ukrainian books led to a considerable proposal among young writers. The full-scale war caused a new wave of inspiration among authors, and for many, the theme of war became a significant driver for creativity.
Ukraine must support the art wave among young authors because their works will eventually become the cornerstone of modern Ukrainian identity.
UKRAINE IN FLAMES project is created by Ukraine Crisis Media Center and NGO “Euroatlantic Course”. We are aiming at searching a loud support for Ukraine in the war started by Russia on the 24th of February 2022.
