Current recovery programs in the Ukrainian regions

The recovery programs in Ukrainian regions aim to address the extensive damage caused by the ongoing conflict. The United Nations, through its Transitional Framework, is supporting Ukraine’s recovery by focusing on infrastructure reconstruction, health, education, social protection, food security, livelihoods, energy, and the environment.

The UN, in partnership with various local NGO partners, is actively involved in supporting community-led business initiatives, such as a bakery workshop for displaced women in Uzhhorod, Zakarpattia region, to provide opportunities for upskilling and entering the labor market. Additionally, the European Commission and its partners are mobilizing international support for Ukraine’s economic and social stabilization, reconstruction, and recovery from the effects of war, with agreements worth over €800 million signed to mobilize private investment for the recovery and reconstruction.

It is essential to acknowledge the vital role of the private sector in Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction, particularly in creating livelihood opportunities for war-affected people and stimulating the local economy, as well as the importance of ensuring local ownership and decision-making in the reconstruction efforts to address the specific needs of each region and community across Ukraine.
