How to create quality visuals for free and without a designer: a webinar for regional editions

On August 3, a series of webinars was held for representatives of regional publications entitled “How to create visuals: an overview of basic tools and practical advice”. The lecturer was Olga Tkachenko, social media coordinator of the GOOD Program. The participants of the training were divided into two groups, depending on the previous questions, wishes and level of knowledge.

According to the lecturer, the visual can perform various functions – it is an additional space for information, a tool to attract attention on social media, an occasion to spread your news, promotion of the message, illustration of information.

Among the main requirements for illustrations, Olga Tkachenko singled out the following: mandatory division of text into elements, use of font selections of key words, compliance with proportionality and compatibility palette for color selection, selection of background colors that are present in photo illustrations, etc.

Olga acquainted journalists with color selection services and basic photo stocks, where you can easily and free of charge find unique high-quality photos. Recent such resources include Unsplash, Pixabay, Pexels and others. In addition, the lecturer showed the webinar participants the main online resources for working with pictures and creating various visual content ( pablo.buffer.com, crello.com, canva.com and others).

It will be recalled that a series of webinars for representatives of regional publications from different parts of Ukraine entitled “Life hacks and useful tools on Facebook” took place on July 14.

The event was held within the project “Modern regional media – a guarantee of quality in a media-competent democratic Ukraine”, which is implemented by the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center with the financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway represented by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway in Kyiv.
