Russian aggression against Ukraine, the war in the Gaza Strip, tensions between North and South Korea, China’s potential aggression against Taiwan, as well as numerous smaller-scale conflicts on the world map raise concerns about further escalation. The formation of the so-called “axis of evil” and, as a result, the militarisation of Western countries to protect against potential aggression will have catastrophic consequences for the world.
The hypothetical possibility of World War III requires the international community to create new tools for conflict resolution and a security system that will defend smaller countries and the civilian population from unjustified aggression. It is also essential to understand that in the conditions of a globalised economy, the consequences of a world war for most countries will be catastrophic.
However, the development of events will be strongly influenced by the results of solving the most significant conflicts today. In particular, if Russia’s aggression against Ukraine is not resolved in favour of the free world, then this will be a signal to other authoritarian leaders about the possible success of their aggression.
