Russian minister of foreign affairs Lavrov is lobbying for the West to remove “illegal one-sided sanctions” during the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak.
Russia is not mentioned in the list of the countries that sanctions should be lifted from, but it is clearly a part of their enormous effort to get Western countries to do just that.
The magnitude of this effort stems from the situation with oil market and economic impact of quarantine, which combined and added to sanctions puts a strain on Kremlin.
However, rather than stop its military aggression in Ukraine, which is the cause of sanctions, Russia is trying an arsenal of political moves.
