It became known from the aggressor’s media that a bill on simplified registration of orphans and children deprived of parental care has already been submitted to the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

These changes provide for the accelerated acquisition of citizenship and documents of the Russian Federation by children who were forcibly transferred from Ukraine.

Representatives of the State Duma of Russia note that the bill is aimed at enabling Russian citizens to adopt Ukrainian children, as the law currently prohibits the placement of foreign children in russian families.

The adoption of such a law will significantly complicate the ability of children to return to Ukraine and will violate their right to maintain contact with relatives in Ukraine.

▪In the occupied city of Sorokine (Luhansk region), the process of issuing “LNR” passports for Ukrainian citizens displaced from recently occupied territories has begun. ▪Preventive talks are held with people. It is reported that in case of refusal to acquire the citizenship of the pseudo-republic – people will lose any means of subsistence and repressive measures will be applied to them.

The injured 15-year-old girl took four adults out of Popasna.

They evacuated from Popasna on their own, but the car was shot by the Russians. Two men, including the driver, were seriously injured by shell fragments. And the girl had to get behind the wheel. The road to Bakhmut was mined – the enemy set the explosive traps in a checkerboard pattern.

The girl was driving a car for about 30 km. For most of this distance, she had her legs shot because the Russians hit the car again.

The situation in the Kherson region is difficult, but there is no famine.

“People have food. People have a very big problem with money. The economy has stopped, and not everyone gets paid in these conditions,” Sobolevskyi said.

According to the official, the vast majority of goods are still Ukrainian.

“Farmers are helping – they are supplying their products to the markets. Prices are not quite adequate, unfortunately, but there is no hunger,” Sobolevskyi said.

The official of the Kherson Regional State Administration stressed that the difficult situation is with the provision of medicines.

“There are practically no drugs. And after we were blocked from importing at least small batches, the situation became even worse. Before that, small batches were imported from Mykolaiv and Odesa. Now everything is difficult,” he explained.

According to Yurii Sobolevskyi, the Russian ruble has not yet been introduced in the occupied region.

“In the Henichesk community and the city of Henichesk, they are trying very hard to introduce it, they have a platform there for experiments. But there is information that counterfeit banknotes have appeared. That is, they have not yet tried the ruble zone, as they have already started to plunder in this way,” the official said.

American economist Jeffrey Sachs is calling on the United States to abandon NATO enlargement.

On May 4, Russian propaganda circulated an interview with Sachs in which the economist said that the “conflict in Ukraine” had already caused world hunger. But Sachs blames the United States for Russia’s full-scale military invasion of Ukraine because he said it was NATO’s “open door” policy that provoked Russia.

In general, Sachs has been promoting the narrative of a strong Russia on which the whole world depends for more than 10 years. Since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, the American economist has repeatedly called for the lifting of sanctions against Russia, saying that restrictions “will not bring Russia to its knees.”

9:18 Mariupol City Council citing the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres

“In a joint UN and ICRC operation, two safe passage convoys successfully evacuated nearly 500 people from the Azovstal plant, Mariupol, and surrounding areas,” wrote Guterres.

“We are grateful for the rescue of our residents. We hope to expand the mission and increase the scale of the evacuation. After all, tens of thousands of civilians remain in Mariupol. They all live in difficult conditions of the humanitarian catastrophe. There is a total shortage of food, drinking water, and medicine in the city. Therefore, the evacuation must continue,” commented the City Council.

Latest Defence Intelligence update on the situation in Ukraine on May 6 of 2022.

Russian forces in Mariupol have continued their ground assault on the Azovstal steel plant for a second day, despite Russian statements claiming they would seek only to seal it off.

The renewed effort by Russia to secure Azovstal and complete the capture of Mariupol is likely linked to the upcoming 9 May Victory Day commemorations and Putin’s desire to have a symbolic success in Ukraine.

This effort has come at personnel, equipment, and munitions cost to Russia. Whilst Ukrainian resistance continues in Azovstal, Russian losses will continue to build and frustrate their operational plans in southern Donbas.

In the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson and Mykolaiv, the Russians continue campaigning for the introduction of the leadership of collaborators. Stocks and reserves of agricultural enterprises are being stolen. At the same time, the occupiers accuse the Ukrainian authorities of creating a humanitarian catastrophe. The invaders themselves imitate humane treatment, demonstratively distributing food kits and medicines to the local population.

The enemy continues the tactic of consolidating positions without active action but focuses on fire damage along the line of contact.

Reconnaissance drones are used to adjust the artillery fire, but two Orlan-10 were destroyed by the accurate actions of the Ukrainian units in the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions.

Twenty-four Russians were killed, and two Orlans were added to the morning results of the destroyed equipment and weapons.

In the Mykolaiv region, the enemy again struck with BM-30 Smerch and a P-270 Moskit anti-ship missile. There are no victims among the local population.

In Transnistria, bordering the Odesa region, Russians tried to disperse information allegations about shots heard from Ukraine. The enemy continues to look for ways to provoke armed conflict in the troubled region.

The cynicism of the Russians knows no bounds: this is not the first time the enemy has tried to justify its insidious plans to strike at infrastructure facilities, accusing the Armed Forces of Ukraine of placing its command posts in hospitals, maternity hospitals, schools, and other socially sensitive facilities.

Thus, the Ministry of Defense of the Russians on its official resource accused the Ukrainian authorities of locating the command post of the Armed Forces in the Odesa regional hospital, and the sick imagination of the Russians completed its yard with armoured vehicles, artillery, and volley fire systems.

At the same time, in the north-western part of the Black Sea, a ship group with cruise missile carriers continues to manoeuvre, keeping the probability of missile strikes on Ukraine quite high.

More than 631 children suffered in Ukraine as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation – 223 children were killed, and more than 408 received injuries of varying severity.

Children suffered the most in regions such as Donetsk – 139, Kyiv – 116, Kharkiv – 95, Chernihiv – 68, Kherson – 46, Mykolaiv – 44, Luhansk – 37, Zaporizhzhia – 27, Sumy – 17, the capital – 16, and Zhytomyr – 15.

These data are not conclusive, as inspection of sites of active hostilities and liberated settlements and receiving information on the temporarily occupied territories are underway.

Centre for Countering Disinformation collected fakes, manipulation, and disinformation that the enemy spread on the morning of May 6, 2022:

  • Manipulation: Russia’s post-envoy to the UN, Vasilii Nebenzia, said that “events in Ukraine are a “proxy war” of the collective West with Russia,” and Western countries “seem to be waiting for a moment and preparing for economic war”;
  • Disinformation: Despite the blockade of southern Ukraine by Russian troops and obstruction of the sowing campaign, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatolii Antonov said that “Americans refuse to admit mistakes in the economy and therefore accuse Russia of provoking a food crisis”;
  • Manipulation: The Russian media continue to generate negative theses about the decline in the level of support for Ukraine by the West. Thus, the propagandists reported that “Bulgarians removed the Ukrainian flag from the city administration in Sofia,” and they “respect other people’s symbols, but the Ukrainian flag has a place in the embassy.”

The Russians aimed at PJSC Azot, but the threat of burning industrial tanks was prevented.

The shelling took place on the evening of May 5. At about 6 p.m., enemy shells hit one of the last gas stations in the Luhansk region and the nearby Sievierodonetsk Azot railway facility. Sleepers and grass on a total area of 400 square metres caught fire. There was a threat of conflagration of the company’s tanks, but rescuers prevented it.

16 times the enemy opened fire on residential neighbourhoods and infrastructure. This is half of the recorded number of shellings throughout the region. 12 houses, an electric substation, and a complex of commercial buildings were damaged. There are two civilian casualties. Seven more houses were destroyed in Rubizhne, two – in Novodruzhesk. There are destructions in Lysychansk, Orikhove, Hirske, and Popasna.

The United States provided intelligence that helped Ukrainian forces locate and strike the flagship of Russia’s Black Sea fleet last month, another sign that the administration is easing its self-imposed limitations on how far it will go in helping Ukraine fight Russia, U.S. officials said.

Two senior American officials said that Ukraine already had obtained the Moskva’s targeting data on its own, and that the United States provided only confirmation. But other officials said the American intelligence was crucial to Ukraine’s sinking of the ship.

The U.S. intelligence help to strike the Moskva was reported earlier by NBC News.

On April 13, Ukrainian forces on the ground fired two Neptune missiles, striking the Moskva and igniting a fire that eventually led to the sinking of the warship. Attention has also focused on whether the ageing ship’s radar systems were working properly. Ukrainian and U.S. officials said the Moskva was possibly distracted by Ukraine’s deploying of a Turkish-made Bayraktar drone nearby.

Immediately after the strike, Biden administration officials were scrupulously silent, declining to confirm even that the Moskva had been struck. But in recent days, American officials confirmed that targeting data from American intelligence sources was provided to Ukraine in the hours before the Neptune missiles were launched.

Russia’s actions in Ukraine can be recognized as war crimes.

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) collects testimonies and evidence of violations committed during the Russian invasion of Ukraine that could be considered war crimes.

This was stated by High Commissioner Michelle Bachelet at a meeting of the UN Security Council on Thursday.

“The OHCHR mission continues to investigate allegations of violations of international human rights law and international humanitarian law. In the context of the Russian Federation’s armed attack on Ukraine, many of these allegations relate to violations that could be considered war crimes,” she said.

In Chernihiv, the occupiers want to appropriate people’s land. Residents are forced to fill in a form by May 8, which states how much land the owner has, and how much is for rent. Only then will a land use licence be issued. Otherwise, the commandant will seize all the land that is not specified in the papers of the occupiers.
