Operational information at 24.00 on 19.03.2022 of the Russian invasion

The twenty-fourth day of the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian nation to the full-scale armed aggression of the russian rederation is coming to an end.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces continues its defense operation in the Eastern, Southeastern and Northeastern directions. Measures of the martial law regime, stabilization actions, and territorial defense tasks are being carried out.

The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine repulses concentrated missile and air strikes and air attacks of the enemy, air cover of densely populated cities, important industrial facilities of Ukraine and troops operational groups.

In the southern direction the front line of defense was restored along some borders. In this direction the enemy is forced to regroup, deploy additional reserves, take measures to restore the combat effectiveness of units.

In the Donetsk direction russian occupation forces are conducting assaults and fire.

In the Volyn and Polissya direction the enemy did not carry out the active action, building fire control systems, engineering support and logistics in preparation for the attack on the city of KYIV.

Offensive operations are also not underway in the Siverski and Slobozhansky directions. Enemy forces are shelling Ukrainian settlements.

In the direction of IZYUM the enemy tried to break through the defenses of our troops, but was unsuccessful, the assault units of the invader were actually destroyed.

The occupiers suffer significant losses. The moral and psychological condition of the personnel is low and deteriorating with each passing day of hostilities. Punitive units of the Rosguard involved in hostilities have lost a significant amount of weapons and military equipment. Recovery of losses is due to outdated and partially defective equipment.

The commandant’s office of the russian city Belgorod is investigating case about 10 servicemen of the 138th Motorized Rifle Brigade who took part in the offensive in Kharkiv and, due to heavy losses, refused to take part in hostilities and incited the rest to return home.

It is noteworthy that the head of the 652nd IPSO group of the russian terrorist forces was severely reprimanded for his weak work on the creation of the so-called “Kherson People’s Republic”. The Kremlin leadership is not satisfied with the fact that due to popular resistance there is not even a conditional demonstration “picture”.

23:50 Head of military administration of Kryvyi Rih Oleksandr Vilkul:

Russian soldiers fired on Velyka Kostromka from BM-21 “Grad”, a suburb of Zelenodolsk in the Dnipropetrovsk region. One house was damaged. There are no victims.

22:52 Russian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Igor Kalabukhov:Kalabukhov said that Bosnia and Herzegovina has the right to decide whether to join NATO, but Moscow reserves the right to respond to such a possibility and threatened to repeat the events in Ukraine. “We have plans against NATO. We are assessing the geostrategic situation, looking at where the threats are coming from and responding,” he stated.

22:07 Belarus begins to mark its military vehicles with red squares, Belarusian activists recording movements of military vehicles said. On Saturday, they spotted movement of materiel from Drahicyn toward Brest, and between Ivanova and Drahicyn.

It was also noted that Belarusian military began using the same rapid identification system -red tape – that was used by separatist forces of the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics and the Russians in the early days of the invasion,  Ukrainska Pravda reported with reference to Belarusian Telegram news channels @Hajun_BY, @paradachak.

21:34 Ukrinform

More than 6.6 thousand people were evacuated from Donetsk, Kyiv, and Luhansk regions on March 19, the Vice Prime Minister, Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk said.

20:52 Ukrainska Pravda quoting RIA Novosti

A Russian Defense Ministry spokesperson, Major General Igor Konashenkov said the Azov battalion plots a terrorist act in Lviv against the diplomats from the U.S. and other Western states to fault Russia for the attack. The “provocation” aims to “put more pressure on NATO so that it enforces a no-fly zone over Ukraine and provides more weapons”. Konashenkov also said that the Ukrainian nationalists mined ammonium and chlorine depots on a chemical plant in Sumy to poison the residents if the Russian troops enter the city.

20:05 Suspilne Kharkiv

Buildings in Kharkiv’s neighborhoods Pivnichna Saltivka and Velyka Danylivka, and in the area near the tank factory caught fire as a Russian airstrike hit the city. There are casualties including a child.

20:03 General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, report of 18:00

The operational situation has not changed significantly. Defenders of Ukraine are holding on to the frontiers of defence, concentrating their main efforts around strategically important cities – Kyiv, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Mariupol, Mykolayiv, and forcing the enemy to abandon the continuation of the offensive.

Due to the professional and heroic actions of the Defense Forces and strong national resistance, the enemy did not fulfil the tasks set by the kremlin leadership: the encirclement of Kyiv, access to the administrative borders of Donetsk and Luhansk regions and establishing control over the left bank of Ukraine.

The Russian troops continue to launch missile and bomb strikes on military and civilian infrastructure using high-precision weapons, unguided aircraft bombs and high-impact munitions.

Violating the norms of international law and human morality, the russian invaders are attacking densely populated Ukrainian cities and villages, critical and industrial infrastructure, schools, hospitals, and government agencies.

russian troops continue to suffer heavy losses. In the temporarily occupied Crimea, some marine units have lost up to 90 percent of their personnel, and there are no reserves to recover.

There are attempts to recruit companies to be sent to Ukraine at the expense of those sent from other military units. In these units, more than 20 people wrote reports of refusal to take part in the war against Ukraine, and repressive methods of influence were applied to “deniers”.

In recent days, enemy units in the Mykolayiv direction, manned by mobilization in the temporarily occupied Donetsk region (recall that forced mobilization of the population in the occupied territories is a direct violation of the Rome Statute and the Geneva Conventions), have also suffered significant losses. During the two days of fighting, the irreparable losses of the enemy amounted to more than 200 people, the rest are demoralized and refuse to take part in hostilities. The mobilized openly accuse the russian command of using them for “combat reconnaissance” to identify the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Refrigerators with a load of “cargo 200” arrive at the Luhansk Regional Hospital every day. Queues of relatives of the dead lined up near the district executive committees on death certificates.

Unsuccessful in open combat, the occupiers continue to terrorize the local population. With the help of propaganda stories, the enemy is trying to form a picture of the loyal attitude of the local population to the occupying power. In the settlements of Chernihiv region, russian invaders tried to distribute “humanitarian aid”. The locals did not take anything from the enemy, even under pressure. The enemy is trying to carry out similar measures in Kyiv and Kherson oblasts.

18:39 General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces

In the Zaporizhia direction, the Ukrainian troops downed a KA-52 helicopter and damaged another Russian aircraft. About 60 russian occupiers and several units of enemy armoured vehicles were also eliminated.

Another “superalligator” KA-52 was shot down in Kyiv region.

18:24 Oleksandr Pavlyuk, Kyiv regional military administration

Russia’s pontoon bridge over the Irpin river was destroyed as the water rose. The Russian troops try to rebuild it to continue the advance. The Ukrainian troops thwart these attempts.

17:51 Head of Kharkiv regional administration Oleh Syniehubov

Russia did not agree civilian evacuation corridors in the region. The administration urges for delivery of humanitarian aid and civilian evacuation from Mala Rohan and Izyum area.

17:37 Deputy Prime Minister for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk: Now, officially, we have 562 Russian prisoners of war. And there is also the so-called “cargo-200” – we also compile data here and organize work together with the Red Cross.

16:48 Ambassador of Ukraine to the Czech Republic Yevhen Perebyinis: Czech police have already opened 27 criminal cases in support of Russian aggression. Some of them concern the use of the letter “Z”. The investigation is conducted in particular under the 405 Criminal Code article  – “denial or justification of genocide”. The accused are facing up to 3 years in prison.

16:31 Ukraine’s Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights in Ukraine Liudmyla Denisova:  In the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, russian terrorist forces are carrying out mass “arrests” – the abduction of Ukrainian activists, volunteers, journalists, and representatives of local governments.

In the city of Berdyansk, Russists’ kidnapped “HromadskeTV” journalist Victoria Roshchyna, who was preparing materials about hostilities in eastern and southern Ukraine. Her whereabouts are currently unknown.

The russian occupiers illegally detained Dmytro Vasyliev, secretary of the council of Nova Kakhovka amalgamated territorial community. He is being held in the basement of Nova Kakhovka police building, which the russian military is using as the office of the so-called “commandant’s office.”

Militants are pressuring Vasyliev to change his attitude toward the Russian occupation.  Physical and moral pressure is applied to the secretary, including elements of torture.

Russian invaders detain Skadovsk city council secretary Yuriy Paliukh.

In Volnovakha, the occupiers “arrested” more than 20 Ukrainian activists.  All of these activists were on the lists reported by numerous Western media outlets in February – lists of activists to be “killed or sent to concentration camps” after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

16:28 Ukraine’s Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko: More than 70 organizations have refused to have cultural cooperation with Russia – the Cannes Film Festival, La Scala Theater and many other cultural organizations.

They are forbidden to take part in the biennial, triennial in Italy. That is, in fact, we are launching an offensive to establish a cultural veil, at least during the war, and we meet a lot of support from fellow ministers of culture, as well as from specific cultural institutions and organizations,” Tkachenko said, Ukrainian Pravda reported.

15:35 In Demydiv village, Kyiv region, which is temporarily occupied by the Russian military, there is a threat of flooding due to the destruction of the dam. “The village of Demydiv in the Kyiv region may be completely flooded due to the destruction of the dam. As a result of active hostilities in the region and the destruction of the dam on the Kyiv Reservoir, water is constantly flowing to the village,” reported Ukrainian Pravda with reference to DOM TV channel.

14:28 Ukraine’s State Emergency Service: On March 19, as a result of the shelling, a residential building in the town of Rubizhne in Luhansk region was destroyed, people were trapped. The fire and rescue unit of the SES of Luhansk region arrived at the scene.

At first, two children without signs of life were rescued from the rubble. Rescuers performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but, unfortunately, upon arrival, emergency medical workers pronounced the children dead.

Rescuers continued to dismantle the debris and found another woman and 1 child. So far, medical staff have stated the death of the woman. The child was saved, her condition is stable and satisfactory.

13:30 Police of Kyiv region: Seven people were killed and five were injured in a mortar attack on Makariv town.

On March 18, the occupiers fired heavy artillery at settlements in Bucha area. As a result of enemy shelling of Makariv, seven civilians were killed. Five people were injured and are in hospital.

11:54 Spokesman of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration Ivan Arefiev: The enemy killed 9 people near Zaporizhia with two missile strikes.

On March 18, Russian invaders fired two missiles at a suburb of Zaporizhzhia, killing nine people and wounding 17.

11:51 Chief Intelligence Department: The occupiers use the mobilized from the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions as cannon fodder to detect the fire positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Russian occupiers are actively “mobilizing” the male population in the occupied territories of the ORDLO. The units formed in this way are characterized by extremely low combat training, discipline and morale.

11:33 Member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense Fedir Venislavskyi: Ukraine cannot refuse to join NATO and enshrine its non-aligned status in the Constitution during martial law for legal reasons.

“We must remember that Ukraine’s course in NATO is enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine. This is a rather complex procedure for amending, on the one hand. Two sessions of the Verkhovna Rada, and the opinion of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine. And we must remember that amid martial law the Constitution cannot be changed. This is a norm of the Constitution itself,” the People’s Deputy explained, Suspilne reported.

11:25 Adviser to the Head of Ukraine’s Presidential Office Mykhailo Podoliak: “Minister Lambrecht openly said: “NATO won’t intervene in the conflict & won’t create a no-fly zone in Ukraine.” Each such statement by politicians encourages to massacre in Ukraine. If you don’t recognize the war & are afraid of Putin, at least don’t make provocative statements,”- Podoliak wrote on Twitter addressing Federal Minister of Defense Christine Lambrecht.

10:08 Project manager at the Black Sea Institute for Strategic Studies and editor-in-chief of BlackSeaNews Andriy Klymenko: The real danger at sea: Russia has mined the recommended routes from the Bosphorus to Odesa and said it was Ukrainian mines.

On March 18, 2022, the seaport of Sochi sent a warning to shipowners and ship captains in the region about the threat of “detonation of mines of the Ukrainian Navy drifting in the Black Sea”.

This warning is intended to prevent maritime traffic of commercial vessels in the Black Sea. It needs the immediate deployment of the NATO Permanent Mineral Trawler Group in the Black Sea!

We emphasize once again: according to BlackSeaNews sources, the Russian Black Sea Fleet is mining the recommended routes of commercial vessels from the Bosphorus in the direction of Odesa (photo 2). It is covered by lies about “Ukrainian mines destroyed by storm”. The mines drifting in a stormy sea cannot be counted in principle – this can only be done by the one who installed them.

9:27 Ukraine’s State Emergency Service:  As of 8:00 am on March 19, a total of more than 691,000 people were evacuated, including more than 146,000 children and more than 12,000 people with disabilities.

9:13 European Pravda: The United States has banned the maintenance of nearly 100 aircraft associated with Russia. The US Department of Commerce has proceeded to the actual “landing” of 100 aircraft that recently flew to Russia and are suspected of violating export control rules.

9:05 Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres:

The war in Ukraine is already disrupting supply chains and causing the prices of fuel, food and transport to skyrocket.

We must do everything possible to avert a hurricane of hunger and a meltdown of the global food system.
